Kim Kardashian has taken on a new title: cover star of the GQ Men of the Year issue.
"The Kardashians" star geared up in business attire as well as more masculine apparel to promote her Skims Men's collection in the cover shoot.
Kardashian along with her sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian, opened up to the outlet about how their late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., shaped their lives when it comes to career aspirations, parenting and divorce.
Kourtney Kardashian, 44, recalled the undoing of mom Kris Jenner's relationship with their father and how she would "overhear things" as the oldest child. "I remember one night hearing them whisper-arguing. My parents never fought my whole life, so it was traumatizing when they did."
Kim Kardashian, on the other hand, never heard her parents argue and was blindsided by their divorce in 1991. "I was in the bath and they called a family meeting. I remember thinking, 'Please, Lord, don't let them be getting a divorce.' I never had an inkling that it would happen, but I knew that was what they were going to tell us. I felt it," the 43-year-old business woman said.
That experience made the Skkn by Kim founder reflect on how to explain her divorce to Ye, formerly Kanye West, to their oldest child North, 10. "I just remember them being open," she said.
Kim Kardashian added that she's "sensitive" to what her kids are going through. "It's OK to show a vulnerable side. You never go to a negative side," she said.
"Just because I know how to manage my stress well doesn't mean that I don't feel the emotions," she continued. "If I'm sad, of course, I will cry and feel it."
Since the divorce, which was finalized last year, 39-year-old Khloé Kardashian said the KKW Beauty entrepreneur has been more sure of herself. "Not that she wasn't confident before, but it's a different assurance that she has in herself," the Good American founder said of her older sister. "She knows she can do it on her own. She knows the power that she has within herself, as opposed to thinking the power was in someone else’s hands."
Another thing the cover star has taken away from her relationship with her dad is his passion for law. "The Kardashians" star, an aspiring lawyer, said the first time she entered the courtroom was for the infamous murder trial against O.J. Simpson in the death of his then-wife Nicole Brown Simpson. Robert Kardashian Sr. was on Simpson's legal defense team.
When Kim Kardashian's nipple bra droppedsome people laughed. Breast cancer patients rejoiced.
"My dad pulled Kourtney and me out of school. He said, 'I want you girls to witness a piece of history and what a trial is like,'" Kim Kardashian recalled. At the time, their mom was "sitting on the other side" of the courtroom as a close friend of Nicole.
"She said, 'You're supposed to be in school. What are you doing here?' Kourtney and I didn't even look at her," she said, adding that the trial was "really tough" on their family. "Kourtney and I were drawn to our dad. We felt like mom was happily remarried, so we would live with dad. We didn't want him to be by himself."
