NEW YORK — Just months after Beyoncé shocked New York Fashion Week attendees by popping up at the Luar show, Madonna surprised everyone by sitting front row for the same runway Tuesday.
The pop icon arrived shortly before the fashion show kicked off outside at Rockefeller Plaza, with hushed excitement as everyone asked, "Is that Madonna?"
She rocked a short-sleeved camel trench coat with strong shoulders, black latex gloves, oversized sunglasses and thigh-high leather boots — plus, of course, a large Luar bag. The singer, 66, almost took a fall as she entered the show, but she quickly recovered before taking her seat.
The star-studded show audience included Ice Spice, A$AP Ferg, Tinashe, Hari Nef, Coco Jones, "Real Housewives of Potomac" star Karen Huger, "Real Housewives of New York" star Jenna Lyons and more.
Madonna wrapped her The Celebration Tour in April and spoke candidly on stage multiple about her "near-death experience" last summer after being hospitalized with a bacterial infection and being in a coma for four days. "It's a miracle that I'm alive," she said at a December show, noting, "I didn't think I was gonna make it this summer, but … here I am."

Luar show creates Offset NYFW runway moment
Madonna wasn't the only major artist who had a big role at the fashion event. Rapper Offset walked in the show, modeling a black leather trench coat with the large shoulders that have become a signature of the Luar look, paired with black leather gloves and a black durag. Offset also slightly lost his footing while clearing the step onto the runway, but he maintained a straight face and kept going.
Offset also wrapped up his first solo tour outing earlier this year, teasing to USA TODAY earlier this year that he's "cooking up so I can create a new story. I'm like in a labyrinth; I always have to be moving."
Joining Offset after making his NYFW debut at the show in February was Beyoncé's nephew and Solange Knowles' son, Daniel "Julez" Smith Jr., also in an all-black look comprised of a mock-neck sweater, black straight leg pants and black boots with a cowboy silhouette (though his "Cowboy Carter" aunt was not causing mass hysteria with her presence in the audience this time around). As Smith walked down the runway, A$AP Ferg clapped excitedly and cheered him on as he strutted by.
The collection from designer Raul Lopez underscores the "primal instincts" of Lopez's upbringing in New York, according to the show notes. Leopard print highlighted that concept literally, while textured black looks served as concrete jungle camouflage. The Luar logo popped up on armbands and in a logomania matching set, and new "it bags" made their way down the runway. The brand also debuted leather shoes, with a clog, an oxford loafer and kitten-heeled knee-high boots.
