So "The Marvels" didn't tear it up at the box office, but you can't keep a trio of superheroines down.
The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure arrives Jan. 16 on digital platforms and Feb. 13 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. (The movie will debut on Disney+ for streaming sometime thereafter.) "The Marvels" features the return of "Captain Marvel" star Brie Larson as the powerful Carol Danvers, who has her abilities entangled with teen New Jersey hero Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and astronaut Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), leading to the three teaming to face a new cosmic menace.
The bonus features on "The Marvels" home release include behind-the-scenes clips, a gag reel, an audio commentary by director Nia DaCosta ("Candyman") and special-effects supervisor Tara DeMarco, and five deleted scenes.
USATODAY.com has the exclusive debut of one never-before-seen sequence: The three heroes try to find a solution to their villainous problem and arrive on the colorful alien planet Aladna – where everyone communicates through song and Carol apparently is a princess.
While Monica checks in with her space team and Carol warns Prince Yan (Park Seo-joon) about evil shenanigans heading his way, Kamala uses a break in the action as a chance to level up her wardrobe and yearns to have a weaponized accessory. The caveat: She needs to sing for her "whip scarf."
